Bring music to your primary or secondary classroom on 21 June with these free teaching and learning resources.

Digital Music Composition resource (Years 3-8)

Join the deadly artists from the Digital Lab, on Ngarluma Ngurra in Western Australia’s remote Pilbara region, to learn the process of making music for a television series. The factual series Red Dirt Riders features original digital beats composed by 16 First Nations artists working with music mentor, Mark Leahy. Gain access to exclusive behind-the-scenes footage starring the young artists who made the beats, then be guided in creating an original digital music masterpiece to combine with a scene from the series.

Composer Q&A webinar (Years 3-8)

In this recorded webinar, primary and secondary students asked Joff Bush, Helena Czajka, Craig Pilkington, Ned Beckley and Josh Hogan about their backgrounds as composers, their work in creating music for TV shows and how they collaborate with others in the media industry.

Sound Design resource (Years 4-6)

By working through the short learning tasks and video interviews in this resource, students discover the importance of sound design first-hand from Hardball sound designers, Serge Lacroix and Liam Whiting. After learning all about sound design, students can download our Foley Kit and create their own soundscape.

Lah-Lah’s Adventures: Music for Everyone resource (Years F-2)

This online resource introduces the building blocks of music: rhythm, pitch, expression, form, timbre, and texture. Created for generalist classroom teachers who are new to music education, the units in the resource can be undertaken with little prior knowledge or preparation. The resource includes simple lesson plans, music clips and additional video content to support F-2 music education.
